Red and Ivory Vintage Wedding Style

It’s another gorgeous week of wedding inspiration here at Love Wed Bliss with this elegant red and ivory vintage wedding style shoot by Jim Vetter Photography. It seems you can’t go wrong when you combine classic Audrey Hepburn style with vintage accessories and sophisticated tableware. Infuse a pop of red with a beautiful rose bouquet and you’ve got yourself one stunning vintage look.

Red and Ivory Vintage Wedding Style

Photographer Jim shares the inspiration: I love Amy-Jo Tatum’s classic designs which harken back to Audrey Hepburn days. These styles just seems so well suited to the deco feel of the Hotel Shattuck Plaza in Berkeley, California and it really turned out well with a great team of vendors. The ballroom set features the designs of Tamiko Garner of All Thing Simple and the lighting designs of DJ Jason Mitchell. They layered a contemporary finish onto the classic lines of the gorgeous Shattuck Ballroom. Laura Urbina and the rest of the Shattuck staff were a great pleasure to work with. The Bridal Suite settings were really driven by the beautiful interior designs of the suite provided by the Shattuck. If only every wedding day began in such a suite! The bedroom provided large windows and French doors by which to light our stunning bride. And of course the lavish king bed gave us the perfect way to complete the shoot.

{Guest Post} 3 Pearl Jewellery Suggestions for an Autumn Wedding

Autumn is still an incredibly busy season for weddings and most brides will be planning their big day long before the trees begin to shed their leaves. Whilst a wedding is a magical occasion for all concerned, it’s particularly so for the bride who wants to get her style ‘just right’ on the day.

Autumn Wedding Jewellery Ideas

Pearls are traditionally a first choice of jewellery to be worn on a wedding day. Now, with the increased popularity of vintage and classically styled weddings –  where elegance and sophistication are a must – more and more brides are falling under the spell of pearls. The unique qualities of cultured pearls meet all these expectations and you’ll discover that you are able to incorporate the classic look of pearl jewellery into whatever style of wedding ceremony you choose.

Besides the single strand pearl necklace, let’s take a look at three of our other jewellery suggestions if you are getting married this autumn:

1. The White Freshwater Pearl Bracelet

White pearls are a perfect wedding jewellery choice given their elegance and understated sophistication, and the beautiful piece pictured will definitely complement any bride’s choice of wedding dress this Autumn. Stunning and breath taking – freshwater pearls are an autumn wedding favourite.

2. A South Sea Pearl & Diamond Pendant

A stunning example of just how timelessly exquisite and luxurious pearls can be. This exceptional South Sea pearl and diamond pendant has no shortage of sophistication – something which makes it a perfect choice as a piece of bridal jewellery. Flawlessly crafted and finished, with a curve of pave diamonds set in 18 carat white gold, the pendant is a piece of jewellery that will truly stand the test of time.

3. Triple Strand Freshwater Pearl Necklace

No wedding outfit would be complete without a classic pearl necklace. We love the vintage styling of this beautiful triple strand freshwater cultured pearl necklace. Large enough to be eye-catching, the graduated strands of these white pearls will gracefully enhance the neckline and the look of the bride as she makes her way down the aisle.

Pearls are such a perfect choice of wedding jewellery that it is easy to fall in love with these unique gemstones. Their strong sense of history and tradition can easily add a touch of elegance to a bride’s outfit for her big day. If you are getting married this autumn, hopefully some of the suggestions above may give you some ideas for choosing the right wedding jewellery for you.

Sweet & Simple DIY Garden Wedding

California DIY Garden WeddingSome of the sweetest soirees that come across my desk are the simple DIY weddings that are so lovingly hand-crafted by the Bride and Groom. It’s always a big score in my books and this California backyard wedding captured by Alyssa Marie Photography gets top marks. From the bright and cheery garden theme to the traditional Russian wedding cake (a nod to the bride’s heritage), right through to the fabulous ‘getaway bicycles‘, this wedding proves that sometimes the best things in life come in small packages!

From the photographer: It was a beautiful intimate backyard wedding shared with close friends & relatives. All the details of this wedding were absolutely gorgeous and easy things to make on your own! Tracy Williams & Laurie Stacey from COLORSAW design helped the overall garden theme come to life. Yana (bride) is Russian and had her family from Russia was watching the entire evening over skype while most of Bryan (groom) had his family flown in from Japan. They had so many cute ideas that made their evening really special like a symbolic balloon release & their personalized “get-away” bikes for their honeymoon. Their cake was a simple homemade traditional Russian layered honey cake.

DIY Colorado Wedding by Heather Gray Photography

The very best weddings aren’t always the weddings filled with glitz and sophistication (although we love those too). They’re the simple, honest, joy-filled weddings that remind you how wonderful it is to be in love. A wedding where the whole atmosphere is electric with fun and the smile on the bride’s face illuminates the whole day. Well, this is one of THOSE weddings. A sweet DIY backyard-style affair on a private estate in Colorado, where not only can you feel the love, but you can feel the absolute joy! Thanks to Heather Gray Photography we have all the happy pics to prove it.

From the photographer: Lyndia and Leo were married August 20 at a private estate in Telluride, Colorado. It was beautiful, intimate and completely perfect. Lyndia grew up running around on the property and through the trees lining it with her best friends who lived there, it was like a second home for her so it made sense that she would want her wedding there.

The morning of the wedding it began to sprinkle a bit, I won’t lie, I was worried. I arrived at the location and there were clouds billowing along the canyon. As the ceremony was about to begin it started to pour. Her planner and good friend asked her what they should do and Lyndia said with a smile on her face, “then we’ll get wet.” Through sprinkles and rain drops the wedding went on. The guests used their umbrellas and I did my best to keep my camera out of the rain.

Lyndia and Leo were all smiles, I don’t think they even noticed the weather, they just stared into each other’s eyes. As they began their vows the rain cleared a bit as if planned. They wrote their own vows which I am a huge fan of if you feel comfortable doing that. It was sweet, tender and beautifully honest. You could feel their connection a mile away and as they kissed for the first time as bride and groom the sun came out from behind the clouds. It was like a movie.

The reception was amazing. The brides father brought fresh Alaskan salmon that he caught with his friends in his home state. All of the food was prepared with love by the bride and groom’s family. For dinner we sat at long family styled tables under a white tent lined with tissue paper flowers, candles and wild flower center pieces. The cutlery and plates were a mix of vintage and new from friends and family, it was darling. We drank sangria and ale from mason jars. The whole reception felt like you were at someone’s home for dinner. Other favorite moments were the bride and groom jumping on a trampoline and Leo pushing Lyndia on the tire-swing.

Whimsical San Francisco City Hall Wedding by Viera Photographics

You know there is something so endearing about city hall weddings. Maybe it’s the historic backdrop combined with urban city style, that makes it such a fabulous choice. Our newlyweds today – Joanne & Roger – prove just how perfect it can be for a small wedding venue. Beginning with an intimate ceremony at San Francisco City Hall, followed by a cinema-themed reception at the Foreign Cinema, it’s a whimsical meets offbeat city wedding with plenty of retro style. Thanks to Viera Photographics we have these beautiful images to re-live their stylish day.

From the photographer: Joanne and Roger went down to San Francisco City Hall and had a simple service the day before their wedding reception. That was until the fire alarm went off and the building had to be evacuated. Luckily, it didn’t interfere too much with the ceremony and they were still wed beneath the arches of the City Hall entrance. Joanne is a graphic designer and created all the paper materials herself. Their reception was held at the Foreign Cinema and reflected the couple perfectly.

{Guest Post} Rain or Shine: Chocolate Wedding Cakes for Every Season

You don’t have to twist my arm too hard, to get me to eat chocolate! In fact, I LOVE good quality chocolate in any shape or form – especially decadently beautiful cakes. That’s why when Zucchero Patisserie sent over this wedding cake feature, I knew I was in a heap of trouble. The “I-won’t-stop-for-anyone” chocolate-binge kind of trouble! Yep. Damn it!…there’s goes my diet again!

Calling all chocolate cake lovers! If your ultimate indulgence is cocoa-based, a chocolate wedding cake is the only choice for your big day. Your wedding is all about celebration and indulgence, making chocolate the ultimate matrimonial treat.

With the demise of the traditional white marzipan-and-fruit cake concoction (which, let’s face it, isn’t the scrummiest or most exciting of options) a whole new era of wedding cake creativity has been ushered in. We now have more choice than ever and this can be fantastic, but also more than a little confusing!

Way back when, fruit cake was the only established option and you didn’t have to worry about whether your guests would enjoy it, what it said about you and your relationship, whether it was in keeping with your ‘theme’ or even whether your cake was right for the season.

Don’t panic! The expert purveyors of chocolate at the creative Zucchero Patisserie have come up with some delicious chocolate wedding cakes everyone will love, perfect for all styles and seasons.

Light and Lovely Chocolate Cakes for Spring Weddings

The spring is a favourite time for weddings. It’s warm, but not scorching, nature is just beginning to burst back into life. As a time for fresh beginnings and fertility, it’s perfect for your big day, but how do you choose the perfect chocolate cake for a spring wedding?

Floral flavours are particularly fashionable at the moment. Rose, lavender, violet – these delicate flowers have romantic associations which are ideal for your big day. You’ll need to select a delicate chocolate too, so as not to overpower the floral notes. Choose a high quality white or milk chocolate with a relatively low cocoa content and make sure your pâtissier knows how to blend the flavours perfectly – this is a tricky one to get right!

Zesty Chocolate Cakes for Summer Weddings

The key to a perfect chocolate summer wedding cake is to inject a little zest and to play with the chocolate options available to you. A really dark 70% cocoa chocolate alone will be much too heavy for a hot summer wedding, one option is to incorporate fruit into your recipe – citrus fruits in particular offer a zesty edge which can turn an over-heavy dark chocolate cake into a tangy, refreshing summer treat.

Raspberry works particularly well with dark chocolate and Seville orange is also especially scrumptious. Take care not to overcomplicate though – too many flavours can really overdo it, leaving your guests with a funny taste in their mouth. One strong flavour to balance out the chocolate is often more than enough to tantalise taste buds. A flavoured liquer can also be used to add an extra, sweet dimension to your concoction. For dark summer chocolate cakes consider Grand Marnier syrup or Cointreau.

Meanwhile, if you’re considering a less intense summer chocolate choice, white chocolate and strawberry  cake with a champagne syrup is particularly yummy. Perfect for a hot summer’s day.

Sweet, Autumnal Wedding Cakes

As the season of mists and mellow fruitfulness, autumn is prime time for a lovely nutty chocolate cake, with all the delicious ingredients nature has to offer. Think hazelnut, almond, pistachio, cherries and warm, wholesome flavourings like cinnamon, cloves and nutmeg. A spiced chocolate orange cake is also a divine option. If you’d rather leave out the healthy stuff, a praline chocolate concoction is also divine and is guaranteed to be well received. A Ferrero Rocher wedding cake, who could resist?

Rich, Indulgent Winter Wedding Cakes

Winter is the perfect chocolate cake season. The richer your wedding cake, the better! With the nights drawing in and the weather giving everyone the chills, indulgence is the order of the day. Choose your very favourite chocolate and then double it, triple it! (If you’re a chocolate lover with a twist, try combining dark or milk chocolate with a chilli kick for an extra warming touch – be warned though, not all of your guest will be so adventurous!)

When it comes to pure chocolate wedding cakes, chocolate quality is essential, whether you’re a white chocolate fan or a dark chocolate diva, choose the very best chocolate available, with a good cocoa content, and your wedding’s centrepiece will leave everyone with a smile on their chocolate-covered faces!

Vintage Inspired Navy & Cream Wedding by Nicole Chatham Photography Part 2

We’re back with Part 2 of this gorgeous vintage inspired wedding from Nicole Chatham Photography in Austin Texas. With plenty of pretty personalized details, a gorgeous Manor venue and stylish navy and cream decor, it is brimming with sweetness, style and a dash of rustic glam for good measure. Earlier we shared the beautiful ceremony in Part 1, and now we continue with the gorgeous wedding reception with it’s rustic touches and southern hospitality.

Bride Kirsten shares the details:

Wedding Cake

Barr Mansion takes care of the catering and wedding cakes. They use all organic and local ingredients. We chose a chocolate stout cake with berries between the layers and vanilla buttercream frosting. The groom’s cake was cheesecake (Aaron’s favorite) in the shape of a Maltese cross. Waterford blue champagne glasses my mother gifted us also graced the cake table.

Wedding Favors

For wedding favors we decided to design koozies to keep our guest’s beer or soft drink cold. I wanted to keep the wedding simple, and cute with personal touches everywhere.

DIY Details

We made the chalkboard menu out of a vintage painting my mother found in an antique store. We just added a little chalkboard paint and tender loving care. Additionally, we made the reserved signs for the tables, the ‘Mr and Mrs’ signs for the back of our reception chairs, and a “happily ever after starts here” sign the guests viewed as they entered the manor’s property. We decided to purchase an envelope guest book and asked our guests to leave us a note to read on our first anniversary. It was custom designed with a map of Texas, specifically the Austin area, on the cover. Aaron and I framed pictures of us as children to add to the guest book table, along with pictures of immediate family who are no longer with us.

Favourite Wedding Moments:

I had two favorite moments. The first was our first look, it was so much fun and at the same time so emotional. I am glad I stuck with my guns and forbid Aaron from seeing me before the wedding. My other favorite moment was walking down the aisle with my father, and taking in all the love, support, family, and friends that were there to celebrate with us.
