Make sure you take a seat ladies, because we have a new bridal collection to share with you which is bound to make you weak at the knees! Melbourne designer Cathleen Jia recently made an impressive entrance into the bridal world with a spectacular new collection – Toujours. And Love Wed Bliss has exclusive backstage peek into the official launch party.
The evening which took place at the stunning Angelique Boutique, in Armadale Melbourne was nothing short of fabulous. With a wonderfully glamorous atmosphere and a line up of breathtaking gowns embracing a vintage glam style, it was an event which would appeal to the romantic in all of us.
The talented Australian designer’s collection is inspired by the romantic 1920′s, classic 1930s, and the elegant screen goddesses of the 1950′s. A seamless adaptation of a glamorous era with a modern twist, it is a classic contemporary look which is nothing short of timeless. All the gowns are exquisitely handcrafted with luxurious fabrics, and intricately adorned with delicate laces and hand-beaded embellishments, which makes them perfect for the quality discerning, style conscious bride.
At the launch, guests enjoyed a salon-style show featuring luxury gowns in subtle vintage colours, handcrafted headpieces and soft veils all beautifully complemented by gorgeous floral arrangements from Bud flowers. After experiencing an exclusive insight into the Cathleen Jia bridal range, and being treated to chic cocktail fare, guests said farewell with their own special gift bag in arm.
If you would love to see this stunning collection in real time, just take a peek at the beautiful fashion film which debuted for guests before the Toujours collection was revealed. The black beaded gown is to-die-for as is, the immaculate makeup and hair by Miss Aimmey, and stunning event photography by Finessence photography!
You can see the new swoon-worthy bridal collection on the Cathleen Jia website, or if you prefer to get up close and try one on for size contact her Hawthorn studio for a private appointment.
There isn’t much you can fault in Elie Saab’s latest Fall 2011/2012 Couture Collection. Already, a favorite with the Hollywood elite, this Lebanese wedding dress designer is turning heads on the red carpets worldwide. His latest 2011/2012 haute couture is inspired by skyscrapers, but you’ll find nothing stark and concrete in these designs. The stunning floor length gowns feature silhouettes in sexy sheer fabrics, sequins, lace, and embroidered materials. A range of heavenly hues float down the catwalk from snowflake whites to powder blues, sensuous nudes to velvety browns and smoky grays to mystical midnight blues. It’s hard to pick just a handful of Elie Saab favorites – but I’ve restrained myself to selecting just one in each gorgeous color palette.

The Monique Lhuillier Resort 2012 Collection is a balance between chic casual and graceful glamour. Monique designed this collection with an intent to dress her clients for an earlier hour – ‘we’re talking before 5pm’ the designer reported. Instead of red-carpet gowns she is reputed for, her Resort 2012 Collection includes a selection of stylish shirt dresses, skirt suits, resort pants and tea length dresses. But of course, it wouldn’t be a Monique Lhuillier show without a display of beautiful gowns. Her evening looks include sexy dresses in fabulous Monet-like patterns and zebra prints. Glamorous gowns in sunset shades of pinks, coral and lavender. Classic gowns in black and gold with shimmering metallic embroidery and adorable tea length dresses in pretty pinks and tangerine reds. Here are a few stand outs we think would be right at home at a stylish wedding. You can see all our favorites on Facebook in our Bliss Wedding Gallery.
For me, the show-stopper is this gorgeous Wisteria Silk Organz Draped Gown with cascading floral embroidery. Just as lovely, is the Java Strapless Gown with embroidered bodice and draped silk faille skirt – either would look amazing on a bride wanting to make a fabulous and bold style statement!
This Poppy Silk Faille Bateau Cocktail dress would be perfect for a 50s inspired bridesmaid and this Navy Cotton/Silk Ruffle Front Vest a stylish sensation for your next After 5 function or rehearsal dinner.
Watch the sun go down in a glorious Sorbet Silk Organza Gown or a One Shoulder Sunset Print Taffeta Ruched Cocktail Dress.
Glow from head to toe in a Gold Tulle Strapless Gown with cascading embroidery or a stunning Strapless Fully Embroidered Java Gown.
Turn heads in this striking Black & Cream Ombre Chiffon One shoulder Side Draped Gown or Indigo Tie Dye Strapless Side Draped Gown.
Wow is all I can say regarding the new Vera Wang Spring Collection for 2012. In fact, I really do think I have died and gone to wedding dress heaven. Vera’s latest line up of wedding gowns are is nothing short of delicious with a color palette full of soft, dreamy and delectable shades. From soft cremes to warm lattes and blushing pinks to contemporary charcoals and elegant greys. Why stick to a white wedding gown when you can walk down the aisle in one of these shades? I have to say Miss Wang is one very talented lady who just keeps raising the standard in wedding couture and a creative magician when it comes to manipulating those stunning fabrics. Any-hoo, here are some of my fav’s from the collection (actually, I think it is nearly all of them). You might want to make sure you’re sitting down and just remember to keep breathing ok?
A soft mint green gown – heavenly!
Stunning swirls of latte.
For the contemporary bride this Vera Wang in charcoal is totally divine.
