Vintage Glam Barn Wedding Inspiration

Ever since my initiation into the world of barn weddings I have become totally smitten with a gorgeous barn bash. It’s something about the country location, warm rustic features and oh-so-pretty and glamorous details, that gets me hook line and sinker!  And the same goes for this fabulous inspiration shoot sent over by Rachel McNamara Photography. With vintage glam style that includes a tea length wedding dress, patent red shoes and gorgeous diamante accessories. Elegant decor such as vintage glassware and candelabras, mixed with rustic touches, and a gorgeous couple (who by the way, are married!), you have the all the ideas you need to turn a country barn party into a stylish vintage inspired soiree!

From the photographer:  From the red shoes, to the red lips, 3/4 length dress with white gloves, to the rustic charm of the table and place settings, this styled shoot, held at the Oaks Vineyard in Clovis, California, was everything we hoped it would be. Amy Jaye of Posh and Posy Events designed the look of the shoot, with red and pink florals mixed with succulents, rose glass candle holders, and brass candleabras. The table settings featured mixed vintage glassware with burlap table runners and a rustic wood table made by the owners of 3 oaks vineyard themselves! Our models were a real life married couple, who’s chemistry was unmistakable.

Black, White and Gold Wedding Colors

Inspired this week by the the glitz of Hollywood and The Oscars, I’ve put together this inspiration board combining an elegant mix of black, white and gold wedding colors. When you add the shimmer of old gold to a black and white palette you instantly elevate the look and to a wedding theme with sophisticated elegance. This combination would go beautifully with an art deco inspired event, an elegant ballroom wedding or vintage glam cocktail party. What do you think?

Vintage Inspired Pittsburgh Wedding by MichaelWill Photographers

This vintage-inspired Pittsburg wedding by Michael Williams has a special place in my heart. Not just because there’s a beautiful bride in a gorgeous Monique Lhuillier gown wearing sparkling Jimmy Choo’s. Or the fact it’s held in a regal church ceremony with cathedral high ceilings and stunning floral decor. Nor is it the vintage glam reception with elegant candelabra centerpieces, breathtaking flowers or sweet vintage details. No – it’s none of those lovely elements. The reason I have a soft spot for this particular affair, is because gorgeous bride Jennifer is one of our regular readers. I always get excited when I learn Love Wed Bliss is helping to inspire a bride’s wedding vision. So when Jennifer told me she checked in to our blog regularly to help with her wedding planning, I was over the moon! Just knowing you have an audience is one thing, but what really motivates me to blog about weddings, day-in-day-out is . . . YOU!  It’s all you lovely people out there who really inspire me to do what I do. Nothing is more rewarding than helping wedding couples create their vision and bring to life their wedding dreams. So thank you Jennifer! I’m honored I could contribute (even if only in a teensy-weensy way) to your amazing day.

I came down the aisle with my father to a string quartet playing “Here I am Rock you Like a Hurricane” by Scorpions and we recessed to “Love and Affection” by the 80’s hairband Nelson. The songs sounded beautiful played by the string instruments, but it was a fun/funny way to kick things off.Pittsburgh Church CeremonyOrnate Cathedral CeilingPittsburgh WeddingMonique LHuillier Wedding GownDeep Purple Bridesmaid DressesVintage Inspired Bridal StyleVintage Inspired Pittsburgh WeddingVintage Inspired Purple WeddingPittsburgh GroomPittsburgh Real WeddingI have always loved the Duquesne Club. We chose this as our venue because it is so unique, almost like the Clue Mansion of board game fame. The building itself has a lot of history having been the social club of Magnates like Mellon and Frick, so it was a nice little slice of Pittsburgh History. As a member, you can have access to the entire club so it was great for our guests to be able to enjoy everything it has to offer. Cocktails took place in the solarium followed by dinner upstairs in the ballroom and then back down stairs for dancing, cocktails in the solarium and games in the billiard room until 1:00am.Vintage Inspired Wedding CakeReception Floral Arrangement IdeasVintage Inspired Wedding TablesOur inspiration for the wedding was really the old-world grandeur of the club, so we went with a turn of the century/English garden vibe. We both love purple, so we chose that as the accent color for font on our invitations, bridesmaid dresses and flowers. For the most part our color palette was very soft and romantic with cream, porcelina and blush flowers and mushroom silk linens. The ballroom at the club has beautiful murals on the walls, and the high-low candelabra centerpieces with tons of candlelight really accented them well. Beyond the centerpieces, the floral show stopper was the arrangement our awesome florist, Bill Chisnell, did on the top of the fountain in the Solarium. Beautiful. I also loved the escort card table he did with bunt moss, purple echevaria and tea lights.Vintage Inspired Wedding IdeasMoss Covered Escort TableVintage Inspired Wedding ReceptionDuquesne Club WeddingDuquesne Club Wedding ReceptionVintage Inspired Bride & Groom

What was your vision for your wedding?

Richard and I both love fall so we knew right away that we wanted to get married in September (“September” by Earth, Wind and Fire is also a favorite song and was the party starting song of the night) in my hometown Pittsburgh, PA. We live in DC but I have pretty much always known that I wanted to get married at the Duquesne Club so a hometown wedding was a must.

Did you include any DIY or personalized details?

I did several DIY things such as making our programs, favor bags (fresh mini donuts around midnight), welcome bags and our guest book table that included a typewriter filled with flowers, a runner made of wrapping paper and a re-purposed Italian wine box (a nod to Rich’s mother who is from Italy) as the card box. Given that our event was in such a formal setting, we wanted to make sure it still spoke to our personalities so the addition of a photo booth and a killer party band was a must.

What were your favorite moments?

My favorite part(s) of the day were my dance with my father because we really broke it down and had so much fun and the best part was walking down the aisle with my HUSBAND as all our friends and family cheered us on. Hands down best day of 28 years and the year and a half of planning was well worth it.

Thank you Jennifer for sharing all the beautiful details of your elegant wedding.

Vintage Hollywood Glamour in the Rocky Mountains

Up next is one for all the mountain loving and vintage loving brides from Starshine Photography. We take you to the breathtaking Rocky Mountains whilst immersed in the glamour of old Hollywood style. Eva and Jay tied the knot in one of the most magnificent backdrops you’ve ever seen. With just a handful of family and friends, they shared a beautiful intimate ceremony in Jasper National Park with towering trees, emerald green waters and the amazing Canadian Rockies as their wedding canopy. But if you think this spectacular location will make you fall head over heels, then Eva’s vintage style will definitely want to make you do back flips. Perfectly emulating the style of a 1930’s screen goddess with feather headpiece, deep red rose bouquet and crystal jewels, she could easily be mistaken for likes of Jean Harlow or Greta Garbo. It’s a glamorous pairing of Hollywood chic and Mother Nature’s elite with this superbly elegant vintage love affair.Vintage WeddingVintage Hollywood WeddingVintage Mountains WeddingVintage Glam WeddingVintage Glamour WeddingAlberta Canada WeddingAlberta WeddingCanada WeddingVintage Wedding ThemeAlberta Wedding ThemeRocky Mountains Wedding BuggyVintage Wedding BouquetVintage Rocky Mountains WeddingVintage Alberta Glam WeddingGlam Wedding ShoesVintage Wedding Walk

From the PhotographerEva and Jay had been engaged for a long time and finally decided to tie the knot in Jasper before Jay went back to war. He is in the Canadian military and is currently on a one year mission. They had a vintage Hollywood wedding set in the beautiful rocky mountains in Jasper National Park. It was an amazing way to spend Canada Day (their dating anniversary). The bride’s dress and most decorations were handmade or bought on Kijiji.

Gold Vintage Glam Wedding Inspiration

Gold Inspiration WeddingTime for some vintage glam inspiration with this beautiful Gold Wedding Shoot from Douglas Thompson Photo. Styled by Dreamers and Heroes it captures the elegance and glamour of yesteryear all bathed in a soft golden glow. Shot within a 150 year old winery, it combines the rustic warmth of the timber and stone surrounds with the sophistication of a beautiful vintage table setting, antique furniture and gold plated glassware. I particularly love the gorgeous up-do hair style on the bride (perfect for a vintage glam theme or classical wedding), and the simplistic organic bouquet with it’s natural foliage and neutral tones – a wonderful contrast against all the opulence. Golden Wedding InspirationVintage Glam Inspiration ShootGold Wedding Vintage InspirationGolden Vintage Inspiration ShootVintage InspirationVintage Wedding InspirationVintage Wedding GoldGold Vintage Inspiration PhotographyVintage Inspiration ShootGold Wedding BouquetWedding InspirationWedding Inspiration PicturesVintage Glam WeddingAntique Vintage Wedding InspirationAntique Wedding Inspiration

From Douglas Thompson Photo: The Golden Vintage Inspiration shoot shows vintage elements, such as miniature paintings, carnival glass, and antique furniture in contrast to non-traditional elements. The gold gown worn by the bride is the dress the designer, Cena Jane Designs, wore for her own wedding. The gorgeous gold highlights the bride, since she is after all, so very precious. Voila Floral’s bouquet does not contain traditional floral but rather organic, natural elements that accentuate the bride without competing with her. Each place setting has martini glasses instead of champagne glasses, and guests are greeted at their seats by a little touch of brandy and a hand-embroidered kerchief to catch those tears of joy.
