From the photographer

The whole morning before seeing each other at the first look, Corina was so calm! She was completely relaxed and definitely had that beautiful bride’s radiance. She got ready with her closest family and friends and that made the morning that much more special. Upon seeing each other at the first look, both Corina & Jason cried tears of joy and were eagerly ready to say “I do”. Their wedding was a culmination of Jason and Corina’s stylish elements mixed with the rustic feel that Patrick Ranch has to offer. Nearly all of the couple’s guests traveled to be with these two. Family and friends are important to them, and they spent a good portion of cocktail hour mingling and making sure everyone knew how grateful they were for their guests traveling to celebrate with them. Jason and Corina are a perfect pair and it was such a joy to photograph them on their special day!!

How to Plan a Rustic Wedding

There is nothing more romantic than a rustic wedding. The crunch of the leaves, a cool nip in the air, and beautiful bursts of orange, red, and yellow can’t help but make you smile. What a perfect time to share your love and begin your life with your partner! Here is how you can plan an ultimate rustic wedding that you and your guests will totally “fall” for!

Rustic Wedding Ideas

Consider hosting your event in a rustic location like a barn. You can make this setting totally shabby chic, string lights from antiquated beams, and excite your guests’ senses with the smell of hay bales in the loft.

Rustic Wedding Dresses

A lace lined dress will work with a rustic themed wedding and enhances a number of figures. Consider trying on an ivory or cream lace cap sleeved gown that is long, flowing, and fitted to look gorgeous on your big day, fit in with your theme, and look no fuss but fabulous. For some added charm, you may also wish to drape a delicate lace shawl around your décolletage as the evening air takes over.

Rustic Bridesmaid Dresses

Have your favorite ladies wear something short and sweet. Look for ruffle detailing, textured embellishments like a knotted or braided halter top, lace, and opt for cowboy boots to add some country charm.

Rustic Wedding Colors

It is essential that you select a color palette that complements your rustic venue décor and ceremony setting. Keep your color palette neutral to adhere to a rustic theme and avoid anything that looks too bold or bright. Hues and variations of champagne, mauve, rust, pine, and taupe tones are perfect and allow nature around you to really be the star of the show.

Rustic Wedding Decorations

The wonderful thing about a rustic wedding is that you can really include hearty, earthy, and natural elements into you big day. Pumpkins, tea lights hanging from fences, an antique cart filled with fall fruit, and even lanterns filled with seasonal flowers and pine cones are perfect ways to play up your theme and are ultra-affordable!

Rustic Wedding Invitations

Your wedding invitations set the tone for your rustic event. Consider selecting an invitation that has a wooden background and is simple but chic. It will be clear to your guests your themed intent.

Rusting Wedding Cakes

Consider serving up your cake on a hearty slab of a tree trunk! You can keep your frosting neutral and add whimsical embellishments like a birch heart façade with your initials carved as the focal point of the dessert and add cascading woodland flowers and leaves around the sides and base.

 Rustic Wedding Bouquets

Nothing says rustic like a bouquet filled with seasonal wild flowers and fiddlehead. You may also consider succulents wrapped in twine, or strands of lavender adhered with burlap and a vintage sparkly pin.

Planning a themed wedding is fun and easy to do. Work in some of these suggestions and tips into your special day in order to create a memorable, rustic celebration.

From the bride:

Our DIY projects included decorating all the vases and jars with lace, string and ribbon. We made the chalkboard signs out of old picture frames, the table numbers out of photo frames and used burlap from sacks to make the table cloths. A ll the table flowers, aisle flowers and bouquets we did ourselves (with a whole lot of help from a family friend who is a florist!). The map on the back of our invitations was designed by a great friend (www.elisemaree.com) and the rocky road favours were also hand made and packaged.

The little shoes on the top of our weddding cake is a special family heirloom, from my great grandparents wedding in 1923, then my grandparents wedding in 1954, and their golden wedding in 2004. my gramps sadly could not make it over from new zealand for the wedding, but he was very touched when he saw the photos of the shoes on our cake!

We walked down the aisle to ‘Godan Daginn’ by Sigur Ros, and our first dance was to ‘Perfect Day’ by Lou Reed. The first dance was probably the favourite memory of the day. I started the dance with James, then my Dad came forward to dance with me, whilst James danced with his Mum!  Our next favourite memory was the sudden storm we had right after the ceremony. The skies opened and it bucketed down. Everyone ran for shelter, but then it stopped as quickly as it started, so we could get on with the photos! It was an extra special day, as it was the first time my family have been together in a few years. My older brother had not even met James until a couple of days before the wedding – so luckily he gave his approval!

Sweet & Simple Barn Wedding

This classic farm wedding is sweet, simple and full of country goodness. Held at Spring Mount Farms in Warriors Mark, Pennsylvania it emulates a pure “country” theme through every aspect of the day. From the mason jar drinking glasses, to the boot skootin’ bridesmaids, right through to the rustic wedding cake topper featuring a cute pair of pheasants, this rural reception is charming all the way. Originally the wedding ceremony was to be held outdoors by the pond, but a sudden change of the weather changed the plan. Instead, the bride and groom Ashley and Matt, exchanged romantic ‘I do’s’ inside the ambient barn. During the ceremony and reception the farm’s Percheron horses could be seen running through the nearby fields, which added a wonderful charming touch to the country atmosphere. Nearly everyone (wedding party and guests included) wore boots to the occasion which perfectly complemented the relaxed rustic theme.Country Barn WeddingBarn Wedding BrideFarm Barn Wedding RusticSimple Barn Wedding IdeasSimple Rustic BouquetsSimple Barn MarriageSimple Farm WeddingFarm Barn WeddingCountry Rustic Wedding BouquetBarn Wedding IdeasSimple Barn WeddingSimple Barn EventSimple Country Barn WeddingFarm Wedding CeremonySimple Rustic Wedding CakeFarm Wedding IdeasBarn Wedding CeremonyBarn Wedding PartyBarn Wedding IdeasSimple Barn Wedding ReceptionSimple Barn BridesmaidsSimple Barn Wedding DecoratingRustic Barn WeddingBarn Wedding DecorationsBarn Wedding Photo

Green Apple Themed Rustic Wedding

I really have a soft spot for rustic themed weddings. Maybe it’s because we don’t get to see many barn-style weddings here in Australia. There’s something so sweet and romantic about a rustic backdrop which brings out the old fashioned girl in me every time. So needless to say, I was totally wrapped when I received this adorable green apple themed rustic wedding from Daydream Weddings. I’m telling you, if you love a crunchy Granny Smith apple then you’ll be smitten with this little beauty! Apple Themed DecorApple Themed DecorApple Themed WeddingRustic Handmade Wedding SignApple Themed Table NumbersSporting a bright palette of greens, pinks and reds against deep shades of chocolate brown, the whole effect of this Canadian wedding is vibrant, cheerful and welcoming.
