Navy Blue and Pastel Pink Wedding by Studio 1250

You know what? I’m pretty much going to let this wedding speak for itself, because it’s nothing short of breathtaking! I was delighted when I first laid my eyes on this Charleston beauty from Studio 1250, and even after pondering over it several times, I can’t seem to get enough. With vintage touches and a palette of navy blue and pastel pink that balances the masculine and the feminine… it’s pure joy, pure pretty, pure wedding!

From the photographer:

Allison and Jason’s wedding day was held at Middleton Place in Charleston. The day began with everyone getting ready at the Inn and praying that the rain holds out. Thankfully, it did. The overcast clouds were much better than pouring rain, especially for a ceremony at the Octagonal Gardens. The sun peaked through the clouds just as the ceremony began, making light for a grand entrance by Allison and her father. After the ceremony, we walked around the gardens taking advantage of the wonderful scenery. Because of the overcast lighting, I decided to shoot a little more black and white than usual. I really like the mood it created. At the reception, the band “Shimmer,” lead everyone into a spectacular evening. The band played tons of classics from Nat King Cole and Frank Sinatra to all the modern hits everyone knows. They definitely rocked the house and had everyone dancing like crazy. What a wonderful wedding my good friend Chelyse Harp of Intrigue Design & Events put together, well done!

Coffs Harbour Wedding at Villa Vivante from David Moore Photography

David Moore Photography has captured our hearts with this incredibly beautiful Coffs Harbour wedding held at the Villa Vivante on the pretty NSW coast. With a dreamy colour palette of sky blue, whites and pastel pinks, mismatched bridesmaids in elegant flowing gowns, and a stylish bride who is not only beautiful to behold, but mesmerizing with her poignant emotion – it’s a swoon-worthy outdoor soiree with a panoramic views that will take your breath away.

From the photographer: Duncan & Sheree travelled from Brisbane, QLD to be wed surrounded by family & friends at the picturesque Villa Vivante just north of Coffs Harbour in NSW. One of the most striking images from the wedding is a close-up of a beautiful single tear running down Sheree’s cheek after she saw her father’s reaction to her dressed in her bridal attire. Of the details Sheree tells me that the “bridesmaid dresses & ties were by Anna Campbell a Melbourne designer. I picked up my dress off the rack in a little bridal store in Sydney called Rosa Wedding. Also all of our earrings were by Paula Hall, a Brisbane jewellery designer who made everything custom and from scratch”. The mix of colours in the flowers were decided upon in collaboration with floral designer Di Patterson of Freelance Flowers.

Cody and I met at the University of Oklahoma during Christmas Break in 2006. We dated for 4 years when Cody popped the question while we were on vacation in Galveston, TX.

Wedding Gown

I found the perfect wedding gown- in ivory, a Torina taffeta dress with a fit-n-flare silhouette designed by Pronovias. I fell in love with the pick-ups on the skirt and the asymmetrical ruching on the dress.

Bridesmaids

I chose cherry-colored strapless Jim Hjelm bridesmaid dresses made of taffeta, which perfectly complemented my gown. In order to compliment the bridesmaids’ dresses, I chose purple as one of the wedding colors.

Bridal Bouquet

My bouquet was filled with a variety of purple flowers such as Hawaiian dendrobium orchids, hydrangeas, sweet peas and mokara orchids. My bridesmaids carried bouquets of roses with orchids.

Ceremony & Reception

The outdoor ceremony at Gaillardia Country Club was held during of the hottest summers ever recorded in the state, but had no affect on our picture perfect day. After the ceremony, the couple and their guests escaped the heat and moved to the indoor reception. We enjoyed a magical evening with our family and friends, relishing the feeling of finally being husband and wife.

Hawaii Theme Wedding in Southern California

What’s the next best thing to having your wedding in Hawaii?… a Hawaii theme wedding of course. And, that’s exactly what this Southern Californian couple decided to do. With fabulous pops of pink, pretty tropical decorations and traditional Hawaiian lei’s for all the groomsmen, it literally transports you to Maui with it’s gorgeous island style. Brooktown Photography was there to snap all the loving pics and beautiful marquee reception.

From the photographer: Here in North San Diego County, late July marks the beginning of the hottest season, and when we were hired to shoot Paul and Nadine’s wedding we knew that there was a chance their mid-afternoon ceremony would be blazing hot.Enter the Grand Tradition, one of the original Southern California wedding venues.

After hosting thousands of weddings at the beautiful estate that was custom-built for weddings decades ago, the Grand Tradition expanded with a garden-themed venue called “Arbor Terrace.” One of its best features, especially in the summertime, is the abundance of shade cast by the lush landscaping; while we captured Paul and Nadine’s wedding, we stayed nice and cool despite the heat that arrived right on time.

The couple also rolled with the weather, using the heat as an occasion to set fans on every chair at the ceremony site, and perfecting a Hawaii beach theme that included generous green centerpieces and a signpost pointing guests to their tables at the reception. One of the best touches was the music: Paul and Nadine met while singing karaoke, and they hired the DJ who was running the mic that night to entertain their wedding guests. And before leaving under a blaze of sparklers, they sang their first duet as husband and wife.

Rooftop Wedding in Las Vegas from Moxie Studio

When Moxie Studio sent over this little number, we were instantly mesmerized with the gorgeous rooftop ceremony overlooking the Las Vegas skyline, the modern purple, grey and silver decor, and who can forget the cool duds worn by the groom. (Yes, a check shirt and purple sneakers can make cool wedding attire!) In fact, I don’t think there is one little piece of this wedding we aren’t besotted with. It’s modern, it’s stylish and it’s all yours to enjoy this wonderful morning.

Why Australian’s Love To Do It Outdoors! {wink}

As an Aussie girl, I’m often asked what sets Australia apart when it comes to our weddings – and what always stands out in my mind are our beautiful outdoor weddings. Australia is blessed with warm weather, natural beauty and some of the most amazing beaches on the planet, so naturally many Australian’s gravitate to relaxing, socialising and celebrating life’s special moments in the great outdoors.

Outdoor Weddings AustraliaImage: McKay Photography

We celebrate all styles of weddings in Australia, from elegant functions to chic contemporary events, romantic garden parties to vintage-inspired soirees and everything in between. But it’s our natural backdrops, as bountiful as they are beautiful, which really make Australian weddings special. Couples can say ‘I do’ overlooking a pristine beach or dramatic mountain range, between the lush vines of a winery or under the canopy of a tropical rain forest. But perhaps the best representation of our relaxed Aussie lifestyle is the Australian beach wedding.

Beach Weddings

The lure of the ocean is extremely seductive for Australians, which is understandable when you consider Australia is basically a huge island with a coastline stretching more than 25,000 kilometres. Every chance we get, we flock to our beaches to soak up the glorious sunshine, fresh air and sparkling waters. So naturally the dream of a wedding surrounded by all that beauty is a popular one for brides-to-be. Whether a luxury celebration at a beachfront resort on the Gold Coast in Queensland, or an organic barefoot ceremony on the pure white sands of Cable Beach in Western Australia each beach wedding in Australia offers something special.

Bondi Beach Wedding AustraliaImage: Jane Allen Photography

Beach weddings in Australia look and feel very much like any other modern beach wedding except for the odd ‘Aussie-ism.’ For instance, if you happen to be a guest at beach wedding in Malibu you’re likely to be offered complimentary ‘flip flops’ to stroll through the sand; whereas at a typical Aussie beach wedding you’re more likely to be offered a pair of ‘thongs’ (which are not to be confused with the underwear variety!). Similarly, when it comes to thanking guests in Florida, they’re usually given a wedding ‘favor,’ while Sydney guests are given ‘bomboniere’ (and no, it isn’t a tropical disease!).

Backyard Weddings

Another popular style of Australian wedding is the backyard wedding. These relaxed events vary from elegant soirees in the grounds of a prestigious estate to get-togethers as simple as the quintessential ‘Aussie BBQ.’  Casual Aussie backyard weddings typically involve an intimate gathering of family and friends in a suburban garden or under the shade of a twinkling marquee. Guests enjoy a feast of barbecued meats, fresh salads and homemade treats along with the traditional wedding cake. Heart-felt speeches are cheekily interrupted with the odd joke and the newly wed’s first dance (traditionally called the ‘bridal waltz) doesn’t resemble the three-step of it’s name, but typically a romantic slow dance of two people in love. Single girls scramble for the tossed bouquet, excited lads fall over themselves to claim the garter and melodic tunes from a live musician keep everyone in a festive mood. The wine and champagne flow freely and ice cold beer is practically mandatory for an Aussie bloke on a hot Summer’s day. Finally, when it’s time for the new Mr & Mrs to say their teary farewells, it’s not a luxury limo waiting to whisk them away, but a groovy VW kombi sporting a ‘Just Married‘ sign.

Amazing Outdoor Backdrops

Because Australia is such a large country (twice the size of Europe), there are vast differences in our natural landscape. Each state boasts it’s own natural beauty and flavour, so as far as weddings go, you can experience a wonderfully unique backdrop from coast to coast. If I had to choose which location in Australia had the most spectacular outdoor setting for a wedding, I would be struggling to stop at just one. Instead, let me leave you with a few of my personal favourites – the stunning beaches of Port Douglas in Northern Queensland, the picturesque vineyards of the Margaret River region in Western Australia and finally, it’s hard to go past the iconic Sydney Harbour with it’s magnificent Harbour Bridge and Opera House for an unforgettable Australian wedding.

Simple Outdoor Wedding by Adam and Alli Photography

A sweet and simple outdoor wedding is like a breath of fresh air, a warm ray of sunshine or a soft melody to soothe your senses. It’s just the thing to bring you back down to earth when things get too hectic, remind you of the small and meaningful things in life and make you feel good to be alive. Filled with pretty plum and peach colours, lush greenery and dappled sunlight, this elegantly casual Mississippi wedding has that refreshing feeling that many of us need at the end of the day. I love the stylish simplicity of the reception tables all adorned with peach linens, peach and purple flowers in mixed glass bottles and twine wrapped votive candles. Then there’s the elegant single tier white cakes, each with it’s own type of bloom and the lovely bridesmaids in short summery plum coloured dresses looking sweet as can be. The moment I laid eyes on this pretty party, captured by Adam + Alli Photography I instantly felt rejuvenated, uplifted and totally in love. Just like this gorgeous couple. From the Photographer: This is a beautiful summer garden wedding in Knoxville, Tennessee. The couple had various personalized and sentimental elements such as a violinist who walked around the reception and serenaded everyone (instead of having a DJ), the groom’s two sons were the best “men,” and each family member’s chair had a personalized tag for Mom, Mad, Grandma Isabelle, etc. The bride’s father and step-father both walked the bride down the aisle, and the bride’s bouquet was gorgeous!  April and Mike are such a sweet couple, you can tell when they are together that they love each other so much, and they make a great team! April is such a genuinely sweet person, she is a light to everyone and everything around her. She’s always smiling, and when she and Mike are together, you will most likely find them laughing together.
