Second Chance at Love

This beautiful affair is not just about perfect pops of pink, glorious sun-dappled gardens and a bevvy of adorable flower girls… more importantly, it’s about two beautiful people Kathleen and Frank, finding love for the second time around. Fancy Love Photography perfectly captured every pretty moment of this Washingtonville wedding from the intimate garden wedding vows right through to the love-filled reception and the most special of moments – when the bride danced with her son. I’m sure there wasn’t a dry eye on the day!  We adore how this celebration proves that a second wedding is just as perfect as the love it celebrates!

From the Photographer:

Jane and Brendan looked at over 50 wedding venues before they discovered that no package wedding would do for them. Both designers by trade they knew that a blank canvas was the only way they could create their dream day. Fortunately, Midtown Loft & Terrace provided them with this blank canvas. The venue is ideally located in Midtown Manhattan, which allowed their guests coming from all over the globe to make a weekend of it in the big apple. Keeping within a budget and controlling design elements was very important to them and they made the decision to hand make many of these elements themselves.

Thematically they wanted to combine their love of the rustic outdoors of upstate New York and his love of vintage grand prix racing. Choosing coral and turquoise as their colors, and burlap and kraft as textures and paper, gave them the necessary colors and looks associated with a summer, rustic wedding. They wanted the evening to be farmhouse chic, right in the heart of New York. Several custom burlap pillows decorated the furniture in order to bring some of that rustic appeal into the space. Jane and Brendan designed and printed their kraft paper invitations, sealing each one with a wax seal. When unfolded it read as if were and old time advertisement for a Broadway show. Programs doubled as fans were also designed and printed by the couple. Additional printed pieces that were also created by the couple were the seating cards and menus, which were also done on kraft paper to match many of the other printed pieces that were made. One of the bridesmaids illustrated the wedding book/poster that all the guests then stamped with their fingers and signed. A close friend of the couple performed the ceremony on the rooftop. Cocktails and passed hors d’ouvres followed on the roof as the sun set over the Hudson. Time to dine and dance in the loft.

The couples opted for rectangular wooded farm tables laid out in long rows to give the feeling of eating at an outdoor picnic table. No table linens were used exposing the natural texture of the tables. They were dressed up using a burlap runners on top of which the coral colored centerpieces sat in galvanized tins. Candles adorn the tables along with bottles of wine, which had been labeled over with various grand prix track labels and vintage race numbers to act as table numbers. The stemware was simple but had the necessary pop, as they were turquoise. Mason jars dressed up with hand made straws each decorated with a little flag served as water glasses.

The gift table was made to look like a flea market. To hold the wedding cards a custom box was made by the groom to look like an old leather trunk complete with travel stickers. The desert table held miniature pies set upon a tiered birch bark holder provided by their florist. A custom made pie topper, ordered by the bride to surprise the groom, was displayed. It was created by an Etsy artist to look like the bride and groom on their wedding, but with a bit of a racing twist. After dinner and dancing, guests were invited to pick up their favors. Custom boxes were made by the groom to hold lottery tickets with a sticker on the outside reading, “Lucky in Love”

Finally, for those who had not danced enough another small after party on the rooftop completed the evening allowing guests to wind down while enjoying the fantastic views of Midtown Manhattan at night.

From the photographer: Where do I being with Amanda and Keith? I’ve known these two for awhile now through mutual friends and frequently seeing a band that Keith was in whenever they were local. At the time Amanda was local and Keith was in Brooklyn. Next thing I knew, Keith moved here. Then she moved with Keith to Brooklyn. Every time I saw them they were together. These two were just inseparable. And I’m so proud to say that throughout all this time I witnessed them fall in love and knew they were meant to be. And they are both genuinely kind people that I like to call friends. So what makes better for a photo shoot then already knowing who you’re working with, right? Thanks Amanda and Keith for accepting me and my goofy self! And also thank you for an awesome engagement session around Madison, New York. I had tons of fun baring the heat together, running around antique shops, frolicking through fields, and working with amazing people!

English Literature Inspired New York Wedding by GT Modern Creations

The inspiration for Lindsay & Tom’s wedding theme came from a mutual interest in English literature. They incorporated books into their centerpieces and used a library card catalog for their escort cards. The whole day was filled with smiles, love and lots of dancing – making this New York wedding totally enchanting. Take a moment to enjoy their beautiful highlight video by GT Modern Creations which puts you in the front row to witness their amazing day.

From the cinematographers: We met with Lindsay and her bridal party on the morning of the wedding at Peter Frank Salon, and before her hair and makeup had even started, she was radiant! Her friends and family recounted cute stories of her and Tom as they watched her get her makeup done, and tears filled their eyes when her veil finally went on…the day had finally arrived, two families would become one.

Once we got back to her house, Lindsay put on her gorgeous Jim Hjelm gown with the help of her mother, and her dad watched nearby in awe of how beautiful his little girl was. Hand in hand, she held on to her dad as she walked down the aisle and into the arms of Tom…her best friend and love of her life. Once she and Tom were finally together, there was nothing but smiles, joy, happiness, and love. There’s just something about these two, almost as if they have already been together for a lifetime. They spent the entire night dancing, holding hands, exchanging glances, laughing and sharing sweet kisses.

She was also there with some friends, eyeing him from across the room. Sara decided to do something she had never done before – she asked him to buy her a drink. They’ve been inseparable ever since. Tony is a bit shy but has a quick smile. Sara is vivacious and laughs constantly. Yin and Yang.

Rain threatened, but never arrived, despite two storms that passed nearby. It was a beautiful warm day scented with roses and highlighted with cute pinwheel-and-flower decorations. Two families met for the first time on this day, and friends from all over the east coast arrived to celebrate. There were no bridesmaids or groomsmen, but special friends arrived a few days early and assisted the bride and groom with wedding preparations.

Sara bought old t-shirts from thrift stores and spent hours upon hours ripping them up and sewing them into flowers for the table decorations and her bouquet. Tony’s family made the cakes, and the cake stands were created from recycled thrift store glassware.
