Key West Destination Wedding by Richard Bell Photography

Here at LWB, we’re always on board for a good Florida affair. Think coastal beauty meets modern design, with splashes of lime on white with pops of fuschia thrown in for good measure. Held at the retro cool Casa Marina Resort in Key West and snapped beautifully by Richard Bell Photography, this destination wedding is a waltz of loveliness, from the angelic-faced bride in her Jimmy Choo’s right through to the cute key lime cupcakes and lush outdoor cocktail bar and beyond!

From the bride

When Dan and I were planning, we were going back and forth on where we should go to celebrate our marriage. We surely knew we wanted a destination wedding, as we love how it forces all of your family and friends to enjoy an extended time with one another. When we ultimately decided on Key West, we knew it would be perfect – as we would be able to blend elegance with the laid back style Key West has to offer, which is exactly what the Casa Marina is able to provide.

The natural beauty of Key West and the resort is what inspired us the most. The resort is exquisitely designed, and the reception room is not your typical ballroom — it has simple candelabra chandeliers, and deep hard wood floors throughout. It does not have any of that “glitz and glam”, which is something we truly appreciated.

It was also extremely important for us to know that our guests felt loved and appreciated — having almost 70 of your nearest and dearest travel from all over to share in this special moment is enough to make your heart burst – and we needed them to know that we felt it! We organized a backyard BBQ bash at the house we were renting, and hosted an open bar welcome party for everyone the night before at one of our favorite local jaunts, Willie T’s.

Sweet & Simple DIY Garden Wedding

California DIY Garden WeddingSome of the sweetest soirees that come across my desk are the simple DIY weddings that are so lovingly hand-crafted by the Bride and Groom. It’s always a big score in my books and this California backyard wedding captured by Alyssa Marie Photography gets top marks. From the bright and cheery garden theme to the traditional Russian wedding cake (a nod to the bride’s heritage), right through to the fabulous ‘getaway bicycles‘, this wedding proves that sometimes the best things in life come in small packages!

From the photographer: It was a beautiful intimate backyard wedding shared with close friends & relatives. All the details of this wedding were absolutely gorgeous and easy things to make on your own! Tracy Williams & Laurie Stacey from COLORSAW design helped the overall garden theme come to life. Yana (bride) is Russian and had her family from Russia was watching the entire evening over skype while most of Bryan (groom) had his family flown in from Japan. They had so many cute ideas that made their evening really special like a symbolic balloon release & their personalized “get-away” bikes for their honeymoon. Their cake was a simple homemade traditional Russian layered honey cake.
