Rainy Day + Cupcakes E Session

Braden and Melanie are in a long distance relationship. Braden is finishing his studies in California – Melanie is working in Northern Virginia. Their love is strong – and they are just crazy about each other. But finding just the perfect time for their engagement photos tooks some doing! So when they finally had a date set aside for their engagement session in Carytown, a lovely little part of Richmond, VA, wouldn’t you know it… It rained. Some people would have been disheartened. Not Braden and Melanie. No, these two weren’t even phased by the weather. They went ahead with their engagement session anyway! And when the rain got a little too heavy, they stepped into the famous Carytown Cupcakes for a snack, along with their photographers – Michael and Carina Photography – and they just kept snapping away!

E Session Highlights

We had a blast shooting Melanie and Braden’s engagement session…he actually flew in from California just for their e-session! They didn’t let the rain get to them, that’s for sure. They embraced it! And when the rain got too much, we had some fun and delicious cupcakes! Braden and Melanie are a fun couple. They are naturals. The rain was almost a blessing in disguise, it made for some awesome shots!

Vintage Style Love Shoot by Jessie Felix Photography

This cute couple went for something totally different and re-enacted a 1950s scene for their vintage style love shoot. Infusing old-fashioned values, retro country decor and total adoration for each other, they bring to life an era that once was (complete with single beds!) And we totally LOVE that! Jessie Felix snapped up all the fun and we are so thankful she did!

From the photographer:

This photo shoot was actually supposed to be a “mini” session we were shooting specifically just to get few photos for the couple’s custom Save-the-Date card I was to design, BUT as soon as I saw how great Jen and Jay had dressed and how perfect the lighting and location was coming together on that particular evening, I quickly upgraded our plans to full-scale photo shoot!

Music Themed Engagement Session

Crystal and Micheal met through Micheal’s band so they wanted to incorporate a music theme into their engagement session. Gabrielle Halle Photography set the scene with an urban backdrop, guitar, speakers, and mic creating a wonderful shoot that not only captured their love of music but most importantly for each other.

From the Photographer

We started in the historic Strip District of Pittsburgh which is an area of renovated warehouses, old churches, and industrial history. Most of the Strip is now a market district of specialty shops and art galleries, but along the river, the 40th street bridge and old railroads lend a beautiful architectural backdrop. Micheal and Crystal were so natural in front of the camera and quick to laugh and enjoy their time together. We headed to the North Shore afterwards, to shoot against the beautiful Pittsburgh skyline and close out the evening enjoying the lights on the waterfront at sunset.

Sail Away With Me

With crystal blue waters and a romantic sailboat as their inspiration, this captivating couple decided on a gorgeous sailing theme for their engagement session. We love everything about this fab shoot – from the nautical details, to their sunset stroll on the beach, to the absolutely STUNNING engagement ring. Add in some gorgeous images by Studio Sequoia, and well, we agree they can ‘sail away with me’ anytime!

From the photographer: When we got the call from Jackie and Chris saying they wanted to do an over-the-top engagement session on a sailboat, we just about lost out minds with excitement… then we met them and the first thing that flashed through my mind was, “holy moly, they’re GORGEOUS!” And SO IN LOVE!!! From the moment we came upon them readying their sailboat to the very last sip of champagne on the beach, their spark of passion and true intimacy just overwhelmed us. From San Diego Bay to Coronado beach, we’ve fallen head over heels for this couple.

Auckland Royal Easter Show Engagement Session by Coralee & Alex

Auckland Engagement Shoot at the CarnivalYou know it’s a sure sign warm weather is around the corner when you see a happy carnival-style engagement session like this one. This cute pair decided to celebrate their engagement with a shoot at the Royal Easter Show in Auckland, where there’s no shortage of colourful backdrops to feast your eyes on! We totally love their fun vibe and relaxed style in front of the camera. In fact, we’re not sure who may have had more fun at this e session – the lovebirds or Coralee & Alex (who snapped all their gorgeous pics). Judging by this, their wedding will be awesome and you’ll never guess what theme they’re going with? …. a carnival wedding theme of course!

From the photographer: Courtney and Cori are a treat! When Courtney emailed us and suggested we do their engagement session at The Royal Easter Show, we thought it was a freaking awesome idea! After a couple of coffees to fuel up, we hit the show late Easter Monday when the light was low and (hopefully) the crowds had died down a bit (they hadn’t). As an added bonus they reduced the entry fee to $10 (from what used to be a whopping $50…..or something ridiculous like that!).

Courtney and Cori are hands down the cutest, most ridiculously bubbly, friendly, awesome and completely head-over-heels-in-love with each other people,  we’ve ever met. The kind of people that when you meet, you never want to say goodbye to at the end of the shoot, ’cause you just want to go and hang with them some more.

In-between gobbling down candy apples, hot-dogs and candy floss,  we managed a few laps and photographed the playful couple amongst the carnival rides. As the sun dipped behind the Super Loop we enjoyed way too many Lil’ Orbits donuts before we said farewell. But never fear, in true Courts & Cori style, these two will be having……you guessed it…..a CARNIVAL themed wedding next year. As we strolled around the Easter Show, Courtney excitedly pointed out all of the rides they had booked to be at their wedding! Yup, fun-park rides at a wedding! Can’t wait. Courts and Cori, congratulations on your engagement! Quite possibly the cutest couple….EVER.

Surprise Engagement Proposal by Latisha Lyn Photography

We love a romantic proposal here at LWB. To witness the special moment when a person asks the love of their life to be with them forever ….well that’s a moment like no other. So when you add the element of surprise plus a fun food fight into the mix, then you have an engagement proposal which escalates into a romantic event which is pretty hard to beat. Thankfully, the talented Latisha Lyn was there capture it all, because we were able to be swept up in the moment almost as much as these two beautiful people!

Photographer Latisha shares: What a sweet time I had with these two. I spent the afternoon with Brenna at my house. Brittney Moreno (an amazing friend and hair/makeup stylist) came over to prep Brenna for what she thought was just a simple styled session. Brenna had no idea what was to come. Her boyfriend Drew was out setting up to ask her the “big question.” Drew and I had been planning this session for weeks. Drew and I wanted to this moment to be extra special and to be sure it was all captured on camera. Brenna loves hearts, loves to bake and loves the color red!! Drew made sure all those elements were incorporated into the set up. Brenna and I arrived at the location. I then blindfolded her and Drew met us at the car. Brenna was lost for words but full of giggles. Drew guided her to the spot and grabbed his sweet sign that read “Hi Best Friend”. Brenna took the blindfold off . . . . and whilst she was still lost for words, Drew fell to one knee and asked her to mary him. Brenna fell into tears and giggles, and answered with a big “YES”. It was such a sweet moment. We then fell into an engagement session, and to end it, Drew had baking ingredients and they had a “baking ingredient” fight!

Pillow Fight Engagement Session by The Bird & The Bear Photography & Film

Pillow Fight E Session

A couple that can forget about the cameras and have a ton of fun during their engagement session, not to mention an all out pillow fight, is just the ‘bees knees’ as far as I’m concerned. This sweet duo (Jen and Robbie) grew up together in Texas. Robbie proposed while on a ski trip in the snow, so they decided to recreate the winter white atmosphere again with a E session in their hometown of Texas! The Bird & The Bear – Photography & Film did an awesome job putting together a beautiful shoot (and super cute video you can view below) which ended up in a massive pillow fight and a whirlwind of fluffy white feathers! If this fun-loving session is anything to go by, then you can bet that their wedding (and marriage for that matter) will be one memorable occasion!

Napa Valley Love Shoot with Anthropologie Style

I love everything about this love shoot. I love the Napa Valley wine country location. I love the warm and eclectic Anthropologie style. But mostly, I love how this couple – although not engaged – decided to capture their trip to Napa Valley wine country purely for ‘love‘. Natalie a photographer, envisioned a photo shoot with whimsical, fun and creative pictures of her and her sweetheart Brett – and I’m sure she’s more than happy with the results. Beautifully captured by Megan Clouse Photography it features a bicycle ride on a country road, a quilted picnic in the park and finally vineyard pictures at sunset. If you ever needed an excuse to have a photo shoot with your beau “just because”, then this gorgeous session will definitely convince you to find one!

Beautiful E Session on the Shores of Lake Las Vegas

When this beautiful E Session first appeared in my inbox I was immediately drawn to the loving glow emanating from this beautiful couple. Chelsy from Cardin Creative Photography apparently felt the same. When she first met the gorgeous Amanda, she felt like she was ‘ talking to a longtime friend.’ Although, the plan was to shoot Amanda and Jason’s E session at Calico Basin (Jason was insistent there ‘must be mountains’), unexpected rain forced a last minute change to Lake Las Vegas instead. Just as well they did. Because this beautiful Nevada engagement shoot is as relaxed and beautiful as they come and we can’t wait to see their wedding later this year.
