Venice would have to be in the top wish list when it comes to romantic destinations. It’s a magical city overflowing with stunning architecture, fabulous culture and delicious food around every corner. It also happens to be a pretty amazing place to get married. Imagine cruising through the canals in a gondola to your ceremony, lingering in the picturesque streets for your photos and wining and dining in an intimate rooftop restaurant with your closest friends – pure Italian bliss.
From wedding planner Stefania:
Julie and Keith are an Australian/British couple from South Australia. They wanted to get married abroad and they decided to choose the romantic setting of Venice for their big day. Last May they travelled to Italy with a few close friends and they had a very intimate civil wedding ceremony in Palazzo Cavalli, the Venetian town hall which the ladies reached by gondola. The day was quite gloomy with a few drops of rain, but it gave Venice a quite dark and intriguing atmosphere which came out quite well in the photos by Milos and Natasa Horvat.
Stefania and Sylvie, from My Italian Wedding Planner, helped the couple handle all the paperwork as well as some of the finer details including the flowers. We choose fresh and elegant peonies and callas in the shades of pink and purple – so that they could match the colour of Julie’s dress and shoes. Together with the bride’s bouquet there were also four smaller ones made of light pink peonies only, which perfectly matched the black dresses of her bridesmaids.
After a photo shooting around San Marco, they all headed up to the renowned Danieli hotel for a meal in their roof terrace.
