I’m loving this pastel green ruffle cake I spotted today. Not only is it soft and delicate with layer upon layer of ombre green fondant, but it also has an element of surprise. Large pretty petals with black cherry centres create the illusion of poppies for decoration. I think the overall effect is amazing – modern, ethereal and glamorous!

Get your groove on with this fabulous retro wedding cake! I love the groovy purple, blue and green paisley design with gold accents finished off with a modern gold “love” topper. The retro decoration is the perfect balance against the sleek white background to keep the look stylish. This would be perfect for a modern or retro inspired wedding. It’s cake which looks hip and cool yet still so chic! Can you dig it?

Peach and white is a classic combination which immediately brings to mind romance and charm – which is everything this stunning wedding cake is! The soft pretty vintage shade of peach is kept modern and fresh with a large floral pattern and single white bloom for decoration. I discovered this pretty concoction on HWTM as part of a gorgeous ‘sweet as peach’ dessert table (which is also divine). Clearly this vintage inspired stunner would be a winner for a peach garden wedding or bridal shower. It would also marry beautifully with a pretty peach letterpress suite such as this.

I must confess I love a party with whimsical decorations, so when I spotted this gorgeous wedding cake on Ruffled, I couldn’t resist sharing. Created by Nelle Cakes in South Africa, this beautiful 3 tier cake is covered in white fondant and decorated with delicate flag bunting in pretty shades of aqua, powder blue and red and white striped fondant. It would easily be the highlight of a pretty outdoor wedding or whimsical bridal shower. What do you think?

Here is a gorgeous idea for your wedding style . . . a love letter cake. The trend to decorate a cake in loving words or messages is not a new one, but recently I’ve noticed a few stunning twists on this idea have emerged. The unique cakes I have spotted recently use beautiful calligraphy fonts with words of love from a poem or song giving the cake a sophisticated vintage appeal. There is also a trend to decorate cakes with vintage paper or sheet music as well. You could also make it more personal and use your own wedding vows. Take a peek at the love letter cakes below. The overall look is elegant, unique and full of old world romance don’t you think?

This stunning three tier’ love letter’ cake designed by Bobbette & Belle Artisanal Pastries is decorated with words from French love poems and includes the couples’ names.
The Caketress created this amazing calligraphy cake to match couple’s wedding venue – a 19th century styled library room. In order to complement the wedding’s decor and ‘novel theme’ they created a design to look like written vintage pages with gumpaste ranunculas-like flowers also looking like they were made out of book pages. Just exquisite!
This wedding cake aptly named “The Love Letter’ by Tillemont Patisserie has a more subtle approach featuring calligraphy writing in soft pastel blue and gold beaded trim.
You can also incorporate love letters into your cake design without having to go for a traditional or vintage style. This ‘Love Quote Cake’ by Sweet & Saucy displays words of love in a graffiti style with groovy fonts and black silhouette.

Another unique way to incorporate letters is to go with a paper-themed cake. This modern ‘Papery Cuteness’ design Hello Naomi uses vintage scripts as the decorative border and to also cover the cute cake topper. Finally, I’m not sure if there’s a cake inside this design (which was featured on Elizabeth Anne Designs), but by using vintage music sheets of a love song you achieve the overall effect.

I’m swooning over this breathtaking white wedding cake adorned with fresh pastel pink roses. With three large tiers and a textured finish, it is chic and modern with a stylishly simple and natural appeal.
