“A child reminds us that playtime is an essential part of our daily routine.”
– Ralph Waldo Emerson
You are born with the gifts of imagination, play, creativity and curiosity, and when you tap into these valuable attributes you naturally used as a child, you enhance your quality of life and happiness as an adult. Therefore, for truly personalized and unique wedding experience, remember to embrace your inner child. For as Anthropologist Ashley Montagu once wrote “we are intended to remain in many ways childlike,” “we were never intended to grow up into the kind of adults most of us have become.” We are designed … to grow and develop in ways that emphasize rather than minimize childlike traits.”
That is why when searching for whimsical wedding inspiration, you usually need to look no further than yourself. Your own imagination and creativity combined with the things that you love, can truly inspire you to have the wedding of your dreams.

In my search for all things child-like and magical for our ‘Let’s Play Pretend‘ theme this week, I stumbled across these beautiful prints by freelance illustrator Jen Renninger. Each gorgeous design is a work of art and I love how they are combined with wonderfully uplifting and insightful sayings. Here are some of my personal favorites from the Words To Live By collection (very appropriate for our theme this week!). Hi all, hope you’ve had a great week! Mine has been nothing short of busy. I’ve been gathering lots of wonderful wedding info and prettiness for our blog to keep you inspired and on track for your big day. I’m also super excited we received our first bit of feedback this week (thanks Christine for your lovely comment!). I know when you’re a new blog it can take time to get noticed, but hey, it’s still wonderful to know someone is actually listening! 🙂
There were so many creative wedding ideas (including an amazing engagement session bursting with balloons) plus plenty of vintage wedding inspiration to be had this week. Here are some lovelies that caught my attention:

Your going to love this wonderful whimsical wedding which is our right from my neck of the woods – Sydney Australia! Brought to life by the amazing SugarLove Weddings and featured on SMP, it is full of happiness, whimsy and vibrant pops of yellow. When I first set eyes on this event I immediately got goosebumps. First of the all, the wedding dress is delightful and the bright yellow color theme against a canvas of black and white is totally captivating. There are so many adorable whimsical details I love including the fresh lemons with round blackboards for place settings, hanging jars filled with rustic flowers and those huge bewitching balloons! Congratulations Karen and Paul, we love your style!

LWB loves is a regular segment where we showcase what we love. It can be anything from a great wedding related product to a talented vendor or fantastic bridal service. I’m delighted to kick off the first of our LWB loves’ posts with these cleverly designed and oh so pretty Save The Dates from Twig & Thistle. You’ll find that most people keep a box of matches handy at home so they are great way to remind your guests the big day is arriving soon. Another idea, is to include them with your save the date cards pack. I adore the soft pastel shades and pretty brocade print details making them super easy to combine with pastel wedding palettes.
You can grab these unique save the dates from Twig & Thistle’s Etsy store
What a pretty week it has been for all things weddings on the web. From vibrant palettes to pretty pastels galore, here is what caught my eye.

This week the United States was buzzing with Cinco de Mayo – a celebration of Mexican heritage – so there were plenty of delicious inspiration boards popping up all over the place all featuring hot spicy colors and summery mexican themes. My favorite wedding board was from Aisle Candy, it made you want to jump straight on a plane to be there!
Here are pics from my other weekly fav’s. I hope you enjoy them too!

My favourite real wedding on the web this week is this captivating outdoor whimsical wedding featured on Hostess with the Mostess. Designed and coordinated by Jesi Haack the entire wedding took it’s inspiration from kites and is bursting with color, fun and creativity. The ceremony and aisle decor is vibrant and overflowing with handmade pinwheels, kites and whimsical florals. Every gorgeous image by photographer Ashley Rose kept me glued to my screen including the pretty whimsical tables (each with their own bird house), to the vibrant dessert buffet balloon backdrop by Sweet & Saucy, to the draw dropping pinwheel and kite ceremony arbor – wow!
