How To Plan a Wedding On A Tight Budget

According to The Knot, the average cost of a wedding is over $30,000. That’s a lot of money to spend on one day of celebrations—but luckily, you don’t have to spend tens of thousands of dollars in order to plan the wedding you’ve always dreamed of. Follow these tips to stick within your budget while planning your big day:

Visit a sample sale

A wedding dress can account for a large percentage of your budget if you’re not careful. To save on this expense, don’t just buy a dress from a local boutique. Instead, research sample sales in your area so you can get a better deal on your wedding dress. Most bridal shops will have sample sales at the end of each season so they can quickly get rid of dress samples and make room for new inventory. Wait patiently for one of these sample sales and you may be able to save hundreds—or even thousands—of dollars.

Narrow down your guest list

Each guest you invite to your wedding makes your big day more expensive. Why? You will have to pay for food, wedding favors, invitations, and programs for each guest, so if you cut back on the number of guests, you can greatly reduce the cost of your wedding. Make your wedding more intimate by only inviting close friends and family members. Go through each guest on the list and ask yourself whether he or she should be included. If you haven’t seen someone in a long time, or if someone is just an acquaintance, it’s best to leave him or her off of the list.

Choose your flower arrangements wisely

Flowers can eat up a lot of your budget, but there are ways that you can decorate with beautiful blooms without going completely over budget . For example, instead of spending a lot of money on giant bouquets for your centerpieces, let a few blooms float in a bowl of water alongside floating candles. This is much less expensive than floral bouquets, but it looks just as romantic and elegant.

When choosing flowers, you should always ask what will be in season at the time of your wedding. Flowers that are not in season are much more expensive than those that are, so be sure to ask your florist for a list of seasonal flowers prior to making this decision.

Hold a “Stock the Bar” party

It can cost a pretty penny to serve your guests alcohol at your wedding, but not if you plan ahead. Many couples are choosing to host a “Stock the Bar” party in the weeks leading up to their wedding. At this party, guests are asked to bring their favorite wine, beer, or liquor that they want at the wedding. The couple will then save all of the alcohol that their guests bring to the party and use it to stock the bar at their wedding (hence the name). This is a great way to cut costs—and to make sure that your guests all have access to their favorite drink!

Skip the gifts

It’s tradition for the bride to buy her bridesmaids gifts and the groom to buy his groomsmen gifts. But, if you’re on a budget, you may not have the funds for this extra expense. Instead of buying gifts for your loved ones, write a meaningful thank you note that expresses how grateful you are to have them in your life. This will mean much more to them than a gift—and it’s far less expensive, too!

It doesn’t matter what your budget is—whether you have one hundred thousand, ten thousand, or even one thousand dollars, you can still make the wedding of your dreams a reality!

How to Plan a Summer Wedding

A summer wedding is simply magical. There is something in the air that excites, inspires, and invigorates the body, mind, and soul. Why not tie the knot in this sizzling and sunny season? Here is how to plan a Summer wedding from the ceremony to the wedding favors.

How To Plan A Summer Wedding

Summer Wedding Ideas

One of the perks of a summer wedding is the weather. Host your ceremony or entire reception outdoors. Many couples host a destination wedding, while others utilize city landmarks or even open floor plan (indoor to outdoor) venues. A vineyard is also an ultra-romantic wedding setting for guests and their wine loving guests. Also, adding an element of water will not only have a cooling effect, it will make a splash with your guests as well. Fountains, ponds, and pools make ideal backdrops for summer ceremonies and receptions.

Summer Wedding Colors

You can’t go wrong with yellow for summer weddings. This bright and sunny shade can’t help but make others smile and is oh-so-appropriate for the sultry season of summer. Shades of coral, gold, mint, or blush also work well for summer ceremonies.

Summer Wedding Colors

Summer Wedding Cakes

Bright, light, and airy colors can also be incorproated into the design scheme of your wedding cake. Choose a cake with some whimsical flair that reflects the sights of the season. A daisy adorned design is adorable, and a strawberry shortcake creation screams summer.

Summer Wedding Dresses

Summer wedding dresses should be light weight, flowing, and comfortable. Avoid anything too clingy. Satin tends to show sweat marks and doesn’t always flatter the figure when viewed in direct light. Opt for strapless styles that boast an empire waist, have cut out designs, or have a short hemline (especially for beach weddings). A little sparkle doesn’t hurt either. Say yes to crystal adorned hemlines or sequins sewn through out the body of the gown.

Summer Wedding Flowers

It’s nice to sit back, relax, and smell the flowers during summer months. Which fragrant flowers will you include in your bouquet? Consider carrying pretty peonies, succulents, and roses. Or, opt for something more earthy, unique, but chic. A bouquet filled with artichokes, celosias, agapanthus, and scabiosa pods will wow your guests and be completely unexpected, yet seasonal. But, when in doubt, a lush and light  bundle of roses, peonies, and hydrangeas will do the trick!

Summer Wedding Decorations

Let the party begin! When it comes to summer wedding décor keep it light hearted, romantic, and fun. String white paper lanterns from the tent or tree tops, hang long strands of flower petals and crystals from tree limbs, and even position comfortable cushioned seating around your outdoor venue. Set up “beach chair” place cards and play up warm and welcoming citrus tones. For favors, opt for bright flip flops so guests can dance the night away in comfort, or fans that showcase the summery theme (and temperatures!).

Planning a summer wedding is a great idea. You have so many options when it comes to colors, décor, and flowers. Plus, sunny and bright weather can be looked upon as a symbol of a happy and healthy new life together with the one that you love!

The Best Ways to Find a Great Wedding Band Today

vibetownIncreasingly people are hiring a wedding band rather than opting for a DJ. Live music is always special, and if you hire a good band, they can create a great atmosphere. Hire the right band and you are guaranteed a reception that people will enjoy and remember.

However, that will only be the case if the band you hire can play and perform well. You need a band that can play the kind of family you and your wedding guests like and are experienced enough to tailor their playlist to include your favourites.

There are several ways to find a good band. Here are the easiest ways to do it:

1. Ask Other People

If you are lucky friends and family can make a recommendation. Most people attend one or two weddings most years, so get to experience a lot of bands.

Sometimes, wedding bands perform live elsewhere. Because most weddings take place over the weekend, some bands perform live in clubs and other venues during the week. Keep an eye on the gig lists for your area or ask any band you think you might want to use when their next live performance is.

Better still if you are at a wedding and hear a band that you like make a note of their name. If the band takes a break, you can ask them for their contact details. There really is no better way of choosing a wedding band than seeing them perform live, and seeing them perform live at a wedding.

2. Go Online

These days most of the best wedding bands have their own websites. If you find a good one they will include several tracks that you can listen to on their website, and will also give you examples of their set lists. Some even allow you to check their availability making it easier to narrow down your options and not waste your time waiting for a reply from a band that turns out not to be available on your wedding date.

3. Go to a Wedding Fair

Many bands now find clients through an agent. Some agents attend wedding fairs.

If you are looking for a wedding band for hire in Leeds attending wedding fairs in the local area is a good way to find one. If there is no wedding fair in your immediate area try a wedding exhibition in nearby large towns and cities. For example, wedding fairs in places like Wakefield or Manchester.

Sometimes members of bands also attend wedding fairs. This is great because it means that you can discuss your needs in detail.

4. Don’t Leave Things to the Last Minute

A lot of couples leave booking their wedding band until the last minute, but this is not a wise approach. Most of the best wedding bands get booked up well in advance. Therefore, booking your band is not something you should leave too late. In fact it is one of the first things you should tick off your to do list.

Red and Ivory Vintage Wedding Style

It’s another gorgeous week of wedding inspiration here at Love Wed Bliss with this elegant red and ivory vintage wedding style shoot by Jim Vetter Photography. It seems you can’t go wrong when you combine classic Audrey Hepburn style with vintage accessories and sophisticated tableware. Infuse a pop of red with a beautiful rose bouquet and you’ve got yourself one stunning vintage look.

Red and Ivory Vintage Wedding Style

Photographer Jim shares the inspiration: I love Amy-Jo Tatum’s classic designs which harken back to Audrey Hepburn days. These styles just seems so well suited to the deco feel of the Hotel Shattuck Plaza in Berkeley, California and it really turned out well with a great team of vendors. The ballroom set features the designs of Tamiko Garner of All Thing Simple and the lighting designs of DJ Jason Mitchell. They layered a contemporary finish onto the classic lines of the gorgeous Shattuck Ballroom. Laura Urbina and the rest of the Shattuck staff were a great pleasure to work with. The Bridal Suite settings were really driven by the beautiful interior designs of the suite provided by the Shattuck. If only every wedding day began in such a suite! The bedroom provided large windows and French doors by which to light our stunning bride. And of course the lavish king bed gave us the perfect way to complete the shoot.
